Events in the Town of Amherst

Bill Barker of Monticello will portray Thomas Jefferson and answer questions about the Westward Expedition posed by noted newscaster Jeff Taylor. They will talk about Lewis and Clark, as well as Amherst County native Nathaniel Hale Pryor, who joined them in October 1803. Pryor quickly gained the attention of his superiors, who regarded him as “a man of character and ability,” earning him the position of sergeant. Light refreshments will be served.
