The Amherst County General District Court, located in the Amherst County Courthouse, hears traffic violation cases, minor criminal cases known as misdemeanors, and civil cases such as landlord and tenant disputes, contract disputes, and personal injury actions.
All cases in the general district court are heard by a judge, not a jury. Jury trials are held only in circuit court.
